Leadership

Responsibility for leadership at Christ Chapel is vested in the Board of Elders, with the assistance and advice of the Church Council. We are an elder-led congregation in which the elders are jointly responsible for pastoral care and spiritual oversight of the congregation. We believe that leadership by consensus provides the wisdom of a multitude of counselors (Prov. 11:14), and is most consistent with the style of leadership observed in the New Testament (Acts 6:1-6, 11:1-18, and 15:1-22). The elder board currently includes one pastor/teacher who is supported by the congregation for full time service.

Appointment to the Board of Elders is based on the congregation's recognition of spiritual gifting and service. Those who serve on the Church Council are actively engaged in ministry at Christ Chapel and are similarly recognized by the congregation. All leaders are expected to fulfill the moral and spiritual qualifications for leaders described in I Tim. 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9. They are recognized by the body of believers and are ordained for ministry through the laying on of hands and prayer.
